The model was released in a collection prepared on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Allied landing in Normandy and is marked with the official logo of the organizers of the anniversary celebrations.
The WACO CG-4 was used by Allied forces to transport troops, supplies and equipment to battlefields. The glider could carry up to 13 soldiers or an equivalent load of combat equipment (Willys MB car). Its construction was based on a wooden and metal frame covered with canvas. The glider had distinctive wings with a span of about 83 feet (about 25 meters) and was towed by cargo planes such as the C-47 Dakota. It played its role in key battles such as Operation Market Garden and the invasion of Normandy, enabling the rapid and effective movement of troops into enemy territory. Its participation in landing operations contributed to the success of the Allied forces and influenced the development of landing technologies after the war.
The 1:48 scale block model includes a new block: the glider's nose, which looks exactly like the real one! Inside you can place the figure of the American pilot included in the set. The model features high-quality prints and matches the size of the released set of the Douglas C-47 Skytrain Dakota aircraft. Together, both sets can comprise an extraordinary aerial duo recreating D-Day! Will the Dakota tow the WACO CG-4 in your collection? Build history, piece by piece, with COBI!
