EAA AirVenture 2017 Salute to Apollo DVD
- In stock
The 1960s were one of America's most turbulent times. As a nation, we were thrust apart based on our beliefs and way of life. A war in Southeast Asia, a fallen leader, and a struggle for civil rights all fueled a fire in this country. However, there was one thing that brought us together not just as Americans but as humans: the space program. Our nation looked to the space program to find heroes and patriots. These aviators risked it all for the good of man. From their early days of testing experimental aircraft over the California desert to going to the moon, they provided Americans with an avenue to come together and unite. During a time of turmoil, they gave us something to look toward for inspiration and hope. During EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017 we were fortunate to have some of these men on stage with us at Theater in the Woods. Together, they represented our space program from the X-15 to the footprints on the moon. They pushed boundaries, overcame obstacles, and conquered the heavens.
In this video, you can hear their stories in their own words. David Hartman hosts a Salute to the Apollo Program featuring astronauts Walt Cunningham, Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, Buzz Aldrin, Dick Gordon, Fred Haise, Al Worden, Jack Schmitt, Joe Engle, and flight director Gene Kranz.
