This Die-cast metal airplane model comes in 1:150 scale with plastic stand
and is approximately 5.5 inches long with 8 inch wingspan. The Avro Lancaster
was a British strategic heavy bomber aircraft that was used as the RAF's
principal heavy bomber during World War II. It's 4 Merlin engines and
unobstructed 33-foot long bomb bay gave it the capacity to carry the largest
payload of any bomber in the war. The Lancaster was primarily a night bomber,
but it was versatile enough to excel in many other roles, including daytime
precision bombings, and it was tough enough to return to base after heavy
damage. Lancaster NX611 "Just Jane" is named after a popular wartime cartoon
character in the Daily Mirror. It is the main attraction of the Lincolnshire
Aviation Heritage Centre, opened to the public in 1988 by Lincolnshire farmers
Fred and Harold Panton as a memorial to their older brother who died during the
war. It is currently undergoing restoration to full flying status. Adult
